hey guys i was just wondering if anyone would be interested in new control boards for our rear windows. i was thinking about redesigning it a little bit and reproducing them. i just want to gauge interest before i go ahead on it. mine recently went bad and that is what gave me the idea. i could do a slight redesign and make them mount in the same spot using the same holes and also be waterproof. let me know what you guys think. this could be done for under $100. which is pretty good considering the relay setup is $250 from toyota.

I am too. My rear window wiring has been hacked up and rewired directly off the battery, eliminating the ability to raise/lower it with the key. The previous owner did this for some reason. I think i need a little more than a new control board, however.

 

As bad as i tried not to post........ gaaa can't help it. The fact that the wiring has been totally messed up and no longer OEM you may never get it working properly like it did before.... Rear window relays rarely go bad on these trucks and it prob was not even bad.... but you could wire it from the battery..... You know the rear window relay is behind the driver seat in the quarter panel bellow the rear passnager window right.....? behind that panel.... personally i think all the work you doing is way to rediculous and a new relay(if it was bad) would have been a smarter choice.....

Thats not correct, the relays for the rear window do go bad after many years of use and that will cause the rear window to operate very slowly or not at all, but you don`t need to spend two hundred plus dollars to replace the relay box, you can rebuild the one you have for less than fifteen dollars. All you need to do is order new relays, remove the old relays and solder in the new ones. The stock relays are actually kind of weak (in my opinion), there rated at seven amps, the ones i bought are rated at twelve amps, so they should hold up better under load.
