Rear Window Question

First off I did a search on this and could'nt find exactly what I was looking for.
I am having a problem with my rear window on my 94' 4Runner, it goes up and down fine by the switch inside the truck but when I try to do it with the key on the tailgate, it works intermitently.
Has anybody else experienced this issue...? and if so what did you do to resolve it.

Thanks
RRIMD

My 94 4runner did the same thing. The switch is probably failing. The stealership will only sell the key cylinder and switch as one assembly, about $80 as I recall. You get a new key with it but you can just swap out the switch part so you can still use the old key.
