Rear window problems

Was driving home from work today and a short distance from home my "door open" dash light started to flicker off and on. It wasn't flickering to brightly but it was going on and off. So when I get home I'm thinking maybe the rear door is not closed properly so I roll down the window with the key unlock it , open it up, slam it closed and go to roll up the window...... nohing happens. I've opened and closed the door a few times, nothing happens. I opened up the inside skin of the door, peeled the plastic back and did a visual check, all wiring looks good, all connections seem okay. With the door open, but the locks latched to similate the door being closed it beeps when I try the window, this has also happen with the door closed. I've run out of daylight and it's getting cold out so I taped plastic over it and will get back to it in a day or two. What should I be looking for? My thinking is:
Check for current making to the window motor,
How do I check the relay switch?
Could it be the door closed sensor, and how do I check this?

Would appreciate any help you can give me, it's winter out there and I need my window closed. I do have another tailgate with a working motor and all guts but I'd rather fix this one if I can.

Derek

I hoping to get to this problem this week end and with the reading I've done here I think I have a solution figured out.
If I directly wire the motor with 12v and it works, then chances are it the relay, right?
If it the relay, I swap out the switch box with an extra that I have.
If niether works, it's the closed door sensor, right? I so, where is it located and whats a fix for it.
Need some help guys it's like minus 20 c here and I wouldn't mind a closed rear window.

Truck info is in my Sig.

I'm new at this but I'll pass on how I fixed mine. The rear window was dead when i bought my rig. When I was checking for voltage with the switch forced on the window started down, which I wasn't expecting. The various safteys and switches are on the ground side and by shorting the circut to ground I completed the circut and the window worked. This way I traced the open ground to the door latch so I pulled it and sure enough there was no continuity. I temporarily fixed it by running a wire to ground before the latch.

I guess you missed the part where I said "with the reading I've done here I think I have a solution figured out. "

Touche'. My apologies.

But I saw no mention of 4crawler's website. I've fixed numerous rear window problems reading his website.

You can roll your window down with the key? I can only roll mine up. When its up and i turn the key to either side nothing happens.

Yeah mine went both up and down with the key, but presently I'm not putting it down until the warmer weather gets here. I was able to jump the motor directly and get the window up but I won't be properly fixing it unti it's warmer out as I don't have a garage. It sucks not having a garage I have a nice ARB front bumper I bought used, sanded, painted and am now waiting for warm weather to install, it's driving my nuts having it sitting on my basement floor.
