Rear Speakers? Not Working?

I have a 91 Toyota. I have had problems with the speakers. I had the factory radio in and only the left front and rear would work. So I put in a new CD/Radio player today and now Only the front speakers work, but the seft front one works now. But no rear speakers. Any one know what could be the possible problem. Short somewhere maybe???? How can I trace down the source???
Thanks in advance!

Well go back to the start of things. It happened after you put in the new head unit correct?

Double check the wiring connections to the head unit. Most likely there would not be a short or it would of blew the fuse first. Very unlikely there.

The last thing you should check should be the speakers.

Process of elimination.

Take the wires loose on one channel at the cd player and connect a C or D battery to the wires. You should here a scratching or static noise. That will let you know the connection is good from there to the speakers.

Have your rear speakers ever worked? You probably dont have any... Mine didnt. Wander on back and see if you can make out any speakers with a flashlight. If not, you dont have any...

I pulled my factory rear speakers and found out that they have a 4" or so speaker and an integrated amp. There was a power lead running to them.

Of course, I pulled those out and replaced them with Infinity's 6 1/2" coaxials. I still have the old ones, if anyone's interested.

Integrated amp?

Yes the speakers worked be for I installed the new CD player, So i am thinking something is not hooked up right. I went to bestbuy and got the correct wiring harness and matched up all the wires according to color. The guy there said that I don't need the orange ones hooked up b/c they are dimmer wires and there is a blue one in there that I don't need to hook up b/c it power's your antenna. I think the problem is somewhere not getting power to the intrgrated amps Factory connected to the speakers. How do I find out which wires power the amp?

I had the same problem. I can't remember what I did to make them work... but it had something to do with the power antenna wire...??? Let me try to find the thread I started about this. Here it is. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f96/rear-speaker-problem-55319/

I believe if I remember correctly the blue goes to a switched power - can someone else chime in to see if I remember correctly

That makes sense, so the antenna goes up when you turn the radio on, down when you turn it off.
It's been forever since I dug around back there...
