Man, I'd say since it's just a 2wd get the Detroit tru trac limited slip. I don't see much point in a locker for a truck like yours. You could get an ARB, but still, the wheelin' potential isn't very high for your vehicle, at least not without alot of work.

u are quite persistent. maybe i should start dissin ur 4 cyl engine? lol
even ur sig is wacked. if the gates are never open, how can u recieve supplys? how about new technology? if we never tried something new, wouldnt that mean we would never advance? or do u think we should just be happy with cancer and aids still rampant and such?
anyways, i was looking for the detroit tru trac and this is what i ended up with.

You do not need to concern yourself with the 7.5 in diff. it is the front diff on a 4wd model.
You have a std 8" toyota differential. unless you swapped something else in there.
I think a LSD might be a better option being you drive a 2wd.

If you're planning on running bigger tires eventually you'd be better off to swap in a rear axle from a 4wd truck...
Not only is it stronger and geared better for your big tires (usually 4.10), but replacement and aftermarket parts are a dime a dozen. If you blow the 3rd in it you can get another stock unit for like $150 and you can buy just about any brand or type of locker or LSD you want to...

um... yeah, you can qoute me
the axle housing is completely different but the carrier and side gears are the same. AFAIK the actual R&P
gears are incompatible since the drive and coast would be on opposite sides.

Here's the link that tells you how to determine for sure what type of axle you have. Your axle code will tell you with the most accuracy. Finding the information plate is simple, it's either in the door jamb or on the firewall behind the engine. If it (axle code) starts with an F, F###, it's a 7.5". If it starts with G, G###, it's an 8". The 5 lug thing is also true. However, the ring & pinion are actually identical with IFS. The same as with 8" gears being the same in fr/rr axles, so are the 7.5".

Wow, someobody's a little pissy tonight....I don't see how "dissin" my 4cyl engine would mean much, seeing as how you have the same motor. I also don't recall "dissin" you at all. You asked, and I gave you my advice. I don't think a auto locker would be a good choice, and an ARB is a little expensive, so I said, consider the Tru trac.
Not going to bother responding to the rest.

If you really want LSD, you could swap in a '96-99 Tacoma rear diff, and go with 2WD for similar compound ratios. Don't know if it would bolt right up, but you could consider giving it a try. Again I apologize if somebody has already suggested this, because I only have one browser window open right now.
