So I am rebuilding my whole rear on my 91 pickup v6 4x4 and the rear gear ratio on my truck is 4.10 (41 and 10 teeth) and apparently they don't make those exact gears after market. I was told by a few aftermarket companies that the 4.11 with (38 and 9) is interchangeable with the orginal one that came with my truck. I would really appreciate any feed back before I go through with this thanks!

 

38/9 equals 4.2222, which probably won't work. Assuming you meant 37/9=4.11111, I would think the difference between that and 4.10 would be negligible, equiivalent to less than 0.1 inch difference in tire diameter front to rear. You probably have that already if your tires aren't brand new.

Since you are re-building it, have you thought about gearing it down for larger tires/offroading? You would have to do the front gearing as well of course.

You can pick up a whole third with 4.10s for $50. I have a spare on in my shop that I can't be bothered to ship because it's just not worth the shipping. Check out the trucks being parted out in the classified section. I've cracked diffs from 200k mile trucks and the gears looked excellent.
