my rear bumper is a little bent on the driver's side. since my truck is kinda beater-ish, i wouldn't really care, except that it's bent in just enough to be rubbing on the bed. it's worn through the paint and a bit of rust is beginning to form. i don't care how crappy my truck looks, but rust is the devil. is it feasible to bend that sucker back into place, or should i just say F-it, and get a cool new bumper? gonna try and put a pic or two up...cross yer fingers...

Where do you live (meaning is rust a big issue?) If so get a cool new bumper. If not do self repair. Also you might get more response tothis question if it is in the newbie or general section... PM me if you want me to move the thread.

rip it off and put a marlin crawler tube bumper on there! I know, not very constructive. Honestly if you don't care how it looks, hook a chain to it, then hook the other end to a tree, start slowly moving forward and have someone tell you when to stop. That would be the redneck way of doing it at least. Of course you take the risk of ripping the bumper off if you get jumpy. Then see option A.

If you can't afford a new bumper you could take off the old one, spray some rustoleum and put it back on. While its off I don't see why you couldn't bend her back into better shape.

Are the old bumpers with the rubber end caps still available somewhere? I have looked in vain. Alll the local dealers have the full size one piece chrome bumper for my 86 PU. I really would liek a new one or failing that the rubber ends.

Front bumper parts can still be easily found.

i have the same problem , i just left it till my downey rear bumper comes in

give it the BFH cure... but be forwarned, that chrome will most likely chip off...

Aint nothin wrong with takin the redneck approch. Do like either 90 or Bigg said. I prefer the BFH approch (Big Friggen Hammer)

my bumper got crushed on the last offroading adventure...leave it and then save up and get an aftermarket...thats what im doin

my bumper got skewed off to the drivers side. I was stuck and had to be pulled perpendicular to the direction which my 90 yota pu was travelling. The bumper bent from the brackets so the bumper is off centered. If you are to do the chain to the tree thing, take a lesson from me. Make sure there is a wide tow strap, prefereably looped more than once around the bent area and do pull slowly against that tree. going chain to bumper will only make it worse with hundreds of vanity scrateches and plenty of mini dents.

ummm. seems pretty smart to me. tow strap maybe, just to save the condition. but hey, u rip it off, all the better. now u can bend it back, or just put on a new one. gotta get it off anyways right?
