Real time help needed

I have a deal on a 97 rear axle from a Tacoma. i need to know if it will fit in place of a 91 rear axle? What needs to be done.

If it will not fit how about the third members? can I swap those out?

'91 what? 4Runner? Pickup?

The Tacoma axle is wider, IIRC. And, depending on if it's 4 cyl, V6, TRD, non-TRD - that will dictate of the 3rd member will fit.

I have an 85 4Runner with a 86 rear axle running an Elocker. Want to buy a 97 rear axle with ARB and use it instead. Axle came from a Taco and had a V6 non TRD as far as we can tell.

Think it will work?

Why?

Why spend the money on a locked axle when you already have a locked axle?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the non-TRD 3rds larger? (i.e. 8.4" vs. 8.0")

The Elocker has problems engaging, also it will not dis-engaged while under a load. I have had both lockers and prefer the ARB. I have searched axle sizes etc. tried calling Marlin but not luck as of yet
