Rattling noise, not "Grinding" while accelerating in all gears???

Good day to one and all, hoping everyone is in best of health in these times.
I made a post a week ago concerning my sons 92 4x4 5 speed that was grinding in all gears except 4th. It was diagnosed by AAMCO
as the transmission, which I am dropping and replacing presently. I found a transmission from a wreck with 170,000 miles, I know, money just isn't right in these times.
This present post is about my daily driver, a 91, 5 speed 2 wheel drive. I have had this rattle/ticking for quite some time now, only when I'm accelerating, not coasting. The truck has 235263
miles .6 yrs ago at 165,000, I rebuilt the short block due to a blown head gasket, machined the head, valves, brand new timing chain,
oil and water pump all that good stuff. All the work was done by myself, thanks with the help of you guys.

I thought my rattling/ticking was an issue with the valves, which I adjusted to no avail.
Okay, this is where everything starts. 3 weeks ago I was doing a regular maintenance check when I noticed the coolant was low. I thought nothing of
it as I added coolant to a new radiator. I took a 8hr drive over the weekend. While filling up on gas and checking the fluids, I noticed a green like residue/oil on the side of the
head/block near the dip stick. Fortunately I made it home, it is a TOYOTA LOL. As I was checking fluid level, I noticed an oil puddle at the bottom
of the block from the same side where I noticed the green residue/oil. I took the valve cover off, only to see the driver side timing chain guide was broken, which is plastic of course. We, or
should i say myself, accepted the TICKING / RATTLING as we sometime think that's the way the 22re is suppose to knock after a few thousands miles. I now believe that is incorrect.
After I am done replacing my son's trans, I will take the head apart and inspect.
These are the few questions I would like to ask, hoping you guys can help me Thanks.
Is there a difference/preference between the plastic and medal timing chain guide? Also, is there a recommended brand for the timing chain?
And should I replace the oil and water pump since I am in there, even though their are still functioning well? Thanks for the help.
