Raptor engines?

My 86 Runner needs a heart transplant. I talked with Putney at 22REPerformance.com, they have a 8-10week lead time, I can't wait that long. So i found www.raptorengines.com they offer a performance engine for just under 1500. The tech write up seems like the real deal, I spoke with them today by phone, very professional and informative.
That being said has anyone had experience with them, good or bad?

the delivered to me price is $1985 including the core back to them.

Never heard of them and not much about them on google. On an interesting note: if you read the About Us page it reads almost EXACTLY like hiperformer's description of their rebuild process.

Yeah, I could not find much at all on them. I am clear on the other side of the country from them. I hoped to find someone that had some sorta previous dealings with them.
Ya'll sound off if you have dealt with the Raptor Engines company.

There is a guy on here that bought one of their High Preformance 3VZ engines that claim to make 190 HP. Search oh hear and you will find it...

I don't like when companies don't list the exact manufacturer of the parts they put in the engines. Most good builders will put they use an OEM head gasket and OEM oil pump etc. Usually this means there using nothing but chineese parts in the build. Then they bore out the block to the max tolerences to get the "135 HP", which makes the block unusalble later on. Most good builders will only bore out to get it strait and nothing more. Then they don't have to use huge oversize bearings to make up for all the material they took out.

Now I went with 22repreformance and had Jim find me a block that only needed honing up to bring it back to square. Then I had my Toyota parts guy send him all new OEM bearings, pistons, etc to make it all OEM again. You can't beat OEM for quality and I've had no issues with the engine.

Good luck.

Well got a compression test finally and found I have a burnt valve in cylinder #3. I have a good head from my son's 86 4Runner replacement, Gonna take it for reworking and ordered a 268C/Torkr cam from Ted at engnblder.com, $119, delivered to my door. Can't Wait!
