well for me it was the small rubber piece that connects right onto the throttle body, i went to toyota and it was 77 bucks.

I would be checking my EGR valve too. Would act just like any other vac leak if it were stuck open. Might cause the smoking too.

Doesn't sound like timing to me.

This doesn't sound like timing. It is a fuel/air ratio problem. It could be a bad sensor, elec connection, vac leak, etc. My first guess though would be an air leak in the big hose between the air filter and the TBI as earlier suggested.

hmm i did jsut replace the belts ps alt and such they are hooked up i did check the egr it works stalled the motor tps working fine ive been looking for vac leaks all day hoping that was it thats why im thinking timing

i mean seriously i parked in the garage 2 hours later the trucks running like crap this just after getting the best fuel milage ever 310 on one tank!

does the flap in the air box move freely. AFM i think it is called.

stock 31s did the air box mod and cleaned egr greased everything syn oil everywhere! thats the secret

do a pressure check in all the cylinders. it kind of sounds like a HG problem, but no white smoke? thats odd...

yep only stumbles and hunts at idle hit the gas and she goes just fine nope no white smoke no leak no oil water mix i can see never over heated horrible idle like its so far out of timing but im not sure if i jumped a cogg or i have a
vac leak

just remember, mine did not have any white smoke and the HD gasket was leaking to the outside of the block. keep an eye on the water level.
