What is happening?

I tried to flush my coolant a few weeks ago after I replaced my water pump. It was squeeling on startup. I drained completely and filled w/ 4l coolant as normal. I was waiting and trying to add water as needed to do the rest. It took a long time and suddenly most of the coolant that was in there shot out as steam and boiling coolant. I dumped in more coolant and everything seemed good, although unexpected. I don't remember anything like that happening in the past.

So I was wondering today if I had an airbubble in the line so I drove up on ramps to raise my front end (my stance is slightly raked). Engine is warming up as normal and it's starting to warm up but taking a really long time. I start reving my engine for 20 seconds to warm it up. When I stop reving, most of my radiator fluid shoots back out the top of my radiator. It was also just at that moment that the top hose started to feel warm.

WTF... is that normal? Is there a blockage somewhere that is not letting fluid through?

and I'm going to buy a new thermostat right now, but it seems to work fine, even if it takes awhile to warm up.

My truck never overheats or get's past 1/2 way on my temp guage.

What happened was that you had the radiator to full and when the thermostat opened it released the air pocket in the block causing some of the coolant to come out of the radiator. Next time don`t fill it to the top, just fill it until you see the antifreeze just cover the top of the tubes in the top of the radiator, that will leave enough room for it to expand as it heats up. Once the thermostat opens and the coolant starts flowing then add more as needed to fill the radiator.
