radiator hose markings

New Toyota hoses. They have a paint line at one end. The top hose also has a anti-chafe sleeve toward one end. What is the significance of the painted lines? Indicate radiator or engine side? I'm guessing that the sleeved area of the hose should be at the shroud area. Thanks for your help, Jim

Line just specifies the 12 o'clock position it should be at.

The sleeved area is the spot where the intake hose/boot contacts the radiator hose.
