I'm usually just a troller on this site, as many of my questions are already answered by searching for them. However, on this one simple occasion, I can't find an answer. I joined in hope that someone can answer this very simple question. Here is the pic: (not my engine)



I know 1. is the upper radiator hose (to thermostat), and 2. is lower radiator hose, but what the heck is 3. called?!?!
I have an 86 SR5 with a suposidly swapped 86 22RE. All of the hoses are cracked and leaking, and I can't find that last hose on any parts websites.
1sttoyotaparts.com only lists the upper and lower, just as everybody else does. Can somebody help me out?

Thanks for the welcome. After another 30 mins of searching, i've discovered it's called the #3 radiator hose, or mid radiator hose here:

I can't find any online vendors that sell this one hose.

 

I would just get some hose and put it on. It is not that tight of a bend you should be able to do it without a kink. Or get any hose that has a 90 bend that is the same size and cut off what you don't need. I have done this many times. Usually cheaper then OEM if no one makes it.

 

My local Autozone didn't have any replacement hose at all. I'll try a different place tomorrow. The mid hose was slightly wider than the upper and lower, I hope I can find a similar size. Thanks for the sugestion.

NAPA is usually pretty good for hoses. They carry a large selection and can order just about anything you need. Whether or not the will order anything you need depends on the peculiarities of the particular store.
BTW, the hose probably goes to the oil cooler. Just guessing since the 22RE I had in the 80's didn't have one and the 3.slow I have now doesn't either.

 

Anyone have a better diagram or a photo of passenger side water flow... Want to confirm my setup.. The FSM diagram stinks:

 

1. Upper hose
2. Lower hose - pipe to radiator
3. Lower hose - pipe to engine

There simply are two lower radiator hoses with a short section of pipe in between. This pipe wraps around the alternator. I guess Toyota decided that a really long one-piece rubber hose wasn't practical.

note - at www.1sttoyotaparts.com, they list the two lower hoses as "radiator side" and "pump side".

 

it sounds loke that the guys at Autozone are to lazy to walk in the back and just match it up for you.

 

89dlx: I found that piece too, but $15 is a little steep for a 90degree bend.

mtnfreak: I've heard awsome things about NAPA from the MR2 community (especially their brake rotors), but there are no NAPA facilities around here.

LOCKnGO: The guys at my Autozone don't really know much about cars. I'm surprized it survives as a business.
