R150F shifter vibration/kickback
The truck has been doing great. No issues for 6000 miles since engine swap. The other day though after an hour of driving I noticed that my transmission feels funny especially in neutral and ESPECIALLY when slowing down in neutral and shifting to 2nd. It usually goes away when I drop below 20mph. So the best description I have of the vibration is when I am against 2nd but haven't pulled it into gear yet, it feels like something inside the transmission is bumping it and trying to kick the shifter away from the gear. The faster I go the more frequent the kickback. As I slow down so does the speed of the kickback. As soon as it is in gear everything is normal. I have noticed it a little against 4th gear but not at all for 1,3,5th gears. Any guesses at all? Transmission oil is full.

I could check into the shifter plate and see if it is loose.
When I pulled the plug to check oil level it smelled but just like gear oil. Didn't smell burnt.
235 on the tranny I think... I tore into it to change a shifting fork back in probably 2008.
Stays in gear just fine and other than the slight grinding sometimes getting into third no noises. Performance has stayed right where it has always been.

I can't smell it in the truck. It has been acting funny though. I stopped noticing the vibration in the shifter as much and started noticing a hard grinding going into 3rd. Happened almost every time I shifter to 3rd regardless of rpm. But this morning driving to work I noticed no issues with the transmission at all. And it has been getting better and better over the last few days. Steel doesn't heal so I assume there is still an issue somewhere but it is really confusing me.

Update
Now that it has been 2 months I am pretty sure it must be a synchro deal. 2nd and 4th are just fine but 3rd seems to have no synchro. I can shift into it carefully from 2nd but never ever from 4th or any other gear. My guess Is the synchro was wearing out and pieces of it were bumping me when I was near 2nd and 4th but now it is completely gone and no more vibration.

Switch out fluid for DOT4? Sounds like syncos too to me.
