The tubes outlined in the pic, are they really needed or which ones can be blocked off? if they can be blocked off, whats the result? Do note that emissions are not a factor.

 

anybody know how they effect the EGR system?

they are not needed. i used breather filters on mine and it works like a champ

your welcome. they are mostly for the egr system. i still have the egr system on for now but will be removing it soon. enjoy the ISR. I love mine

 

i will, i had it done on my last 4runner but differently, i think ill be looking at disconnecting my whole EGR system in the near future as its not required here.

 

sorry for the thumbnail sketch but you can the breather filter on the left that replaces the hose in question. Actually there are 2 filters side by side there but the picture cut it off. There is another breather filter on the valve cover so that there doesnt have to be any hoses into the ISR. in this pic you can see my 7mge AFM and 7mge coil. they arent hooked up in the pic. but it runs great. Hope this helps

 

if i lived anywhere else i would look into those filters but I'm glad here they only require a emissions test when you buy a vehicle, i bought this and it passed so I'm good to go. the smell is familiar to me after doing this on my 4runner, i just cant wait to see the better fuel economy. i do like stepping on it though to hear that suction so that works against the MPGs but i think i can resist the urge till gas prices drop again. Gotta love Alberta! Cheapest gas in Canada and no emission tests after the first one when you buy a vehicle!!! XD

 

the filters will soon disappear when i delete the egr system entirely. Enjoy the ISR! i love mine!

 

The smaller hose provides metered air to the EGR system, the larger hose provides un-metered air to the PAIR valve. Lots of folks have removed those systems, and there are lively discussions as to whether it is more beneficial to keep them or not.

However, if you want to keep those systems in place, the following pic shows a clean option for routing both hoses for your ISR mod.



Both hose diameters were easily purchased by the foot at AutoZone. The smaller hose connects to an "L" fitting built into the aluminum intake tube which is also available at Auto Zone for about $40.
