Question about '91 4runner...

I've taken everything off the rear axel in an attempt to swap out my coil springs and am starting to think I need a compressor, question is am I correct? thanks for the info.

most will argue that to do it correct and safely, yes

but I'd bet it can be done without one, by putting a strap around the frame and through the coil just to be safe, and lowering the axle from underneith it

but then again, I've NEVER messed with the coil-sprung Runner's myself, so might want to take a second opinion

welcome to YT by the way
