Pulling A Triler 6x8

OK, I have a constuction business and I'm running a 3.0 in my 95 Runner. My question is, how will it be on my motor? The rig that I'm pullimg is 6X8 and will have about 2000 pounds in it. I just had all my Valves, Timing Belt, New HG's, Waterpump etc done to my rig. Please give me some feed back in this matter. Also any help and Idears would also be great. Thank you for your time.

its not the size as much as the weight... but at 2000lbs you will be just fine... I have towed up to 5000lbs with my 95runner that had a 22re.. no biggie.. just slow.

If you tow it a lot you may want to consider trailer brakes to help the runner.. but if occasional the runners brakes will suffice...

Depending on tounge weight you may also want to put rear airbags in to level the load.. gets weight back on the front brakes, and puts your headlights back at a level stance.

Add a tranny cooler and synthetic fluid.. I would also add synthitic to your read diff if you plan on towing it daily.

It should pull it just fine, just keep your overdrive off and be patient on accelleration and stopping. The 3.0 is going to need some time to get the 6500-7000lb mass moving. I've towed 1700lbs and yeah I knew it was back there! lol Great advice above!

of course I threw the same 1700lb trailer + 1800lbs of yard trash behind our 94 K3500 6.5LTD dually and hardly noticed it back there...hehehe

heres a similar thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...hlight=3.0+tow

basically you can do it but your acceleration is going to be hell, especially on hills. also watch your braking...if you dont have a trailer brake controller, you might look into getting one. otherwise, give yourself lots of time to brake. you probably also want to look into a transmission cooler being that it is an auto. how far are you towing?

get one with a V-nose, sometimes called 'wedge' this will make towing it at speed a whole lot easier.

2000# is nothing to tow. I used to tow that all the time with my runner. no problem at all, accelaeration wasn't effected to bad & never had issues with braking

Did you ever put that trailer on a scale to know for sure it was 2000? Reason being my 4runner with the 3vze is pretty darn quick compared to people's here....and when I hooked up to a 1700lb trailer the truck damn near couldnt move! (The truck checks in at 4980lbs plus 1700lbs so thats a 6680lb Gross Combined Weight...)

I know when I would pull about 1750lbs and had the runner full of stuff, at least 1200lbs, plus me.. I was slow.. 22re.. i could certainly feel it.. even with an empty runner and the quad trailer with 1 quad.. about 900lbs I was slower.. but thats also with 33's

When I have 5000lbs behind my rig with 35's it was SLOW.. good thing it was only about 6 miles each way.. the trailer was 1700... was hauling 2yards of dirt to the house for yard work..
