Problems w/ E-brake handle retracting..
It's not so much that the handle won't retract. I just got the truck this weekend, and the E-brake handle wasn't in the tube under the dashboard.
I tried sliding, twisting, spinning, and no luck, like the 2 little locking mechanisms don't agree.
Do I need to remove the entire tube assy. and reconnect the cable that way, or is there another way?
TIA
JT

On my truck old truck, the whole assembly underneath the truck was rusted and seized. The only way I could get my handle back in and the light to go off was to yank on the e-brake cable just underneath the passenger side of the truck.

I guess I should have clarified..
The actual handle, in the cab, under the dash, is completely out of the tube. The cable end, that goes to the E-brakes is down by the firewall, in the Tube, that houses/locks the e-brake mechanism.. I can't get the "charge handle," back into the tube, to reconnect the cable end..
Thanks though, I'll check the rest of the assy. while I'm under there..

I had the same problem when I replaced my broken e-brake cable. I took mine out thinking it would be easy to put back in. For the life of me, I could not figure out why it would not go back in. If you look inside the tube with a flashlight (if it is like mine), there are two tabs that move up and down. If I remember correctly, both tabs must be pushed up and away from one another in order to get the handle back in. Kind of like a pair of wings.
Maybe that will get you on the right track.
