Installed a used Pro Comp Stage II IFS lift many years ago, but have had an issue with the outer tie rod ends sinking too far down into the holes in the steering knuckles. This of course results in very little room for the tie rod end to pivot/move.

Both sides are like this, and as you can see in the pic, I needed to add washers to be able to torque them down (or else the nut would bottom out).



Anyone else with the Pro Comp lifts has ever encountered this problem?

I'm wondering if it's a problem with the knuckle, and the tapered holes have somehow elongated, or maybe it's an issue of the quality of the tie rod ends? Last time I did the tie rods, I used the NAPA premium brand, which I was told were made by Spicer. The ones before that were MOOG, and seemed to have a similar issue if I remember correctly.

Anyway, I'm getting tired of driving around like this, and would like to somehow find a solution. Comments/advice welcomed!

 

did that spindle come with the lift? maybe youre getting the wrong balljoints. thats werid i havent seen that before.

 

Contact Pro Comp. That is part of their lift. The tie rod taper looks like it must have worn larger.

 

Sent ProComp an e-mail today... guess we'll see what happens. The kit is pretty stout and has served me well so far, so I hope they'll stand behind their product.
