I have a 1987 4x4 pickup with 22re and automatic trans. Everything was operating normally. A couple days ago I removed my ECM to clean the area behind it. I reinstalled it today and now my transmission is not acting right. Reverse works fine as does low gear, but when I put it in drive or 2nd, it will not go to and start in the lowest gear. it will move, but it’s obviously not in first gear and barely inches forward with no power and will not downshift to the lower gears. Can anyone think of a reason why or have experience with this type of behavior? The fluid is clean and on level.
I'd sure be suspicious of the ECM connections, wiring... go back to what you did and check to see what changed?
ive gon back through a few times now and inspected all the wires plugs and pins. Disconnected, reconnected and it happens the same everytime. Really weird.
I saw that thread and just like the other guy responding, I don’t have that blue relay there. Instead I have a black box that says “OD” on it. I did try unplugging that and starting the truck. That did not have an affect in anything.
