Power Steering Geerbox Leak
Only have one other problem with this truck ('91 Excab Dlx Longbed w/3VZE V-6)..........gearbox for PS seems to be leaking at input shaft , is there a seal there I can replace , try the stop leak stuff (I don't like that stuff) or is the only way to fix mean replace?????
Truck has 258K on it and it does wiggle a bit (no play in steering just a bit at input shaft to gearbox), have to put PS Fluid in it about every 2 weeks , already replaced pressure hose and return hoses and none of them are leaking anymore , just at the input shaft for the gearbox is the only leak now .

not too many option from what i have investigated.
you could get a new one, a rebuilt, a used one from another similar year vehicle, or rebuild yourself. there a few threads on the teardown and rebuild, if ur thinkn bout goin about yourself, read the threads many times before you go into it. also, read up on the goofups and mistakes people have made. luck favors the prepared, and theres no reason to duplicate errors documented by others.

Power Steering Gearbox Leak
Ok did some searching elsewhere and found some nice references for this steering box , here is a PDF for '93 service manual with all kinds of info and yes it includes a breakdown of the steering gearbox dis-assembly and service :
http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/
If you go in this link it will open a PDF for each section and you can save the PDF in a file or on your desktop for later reference for those who like me save things in a folder for quick reference later and or printing for under the truck on the scene reference material .
And this picture also gives good info on the early and late model gearboxes for the PS so you know what your getting at the dealer :
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attac...1&d=1166732585
And for those of you with early '90 trucks , the breakdown for the gearbox on the service manual link is the right one
Also I read quite a few posts on Lucas PS Oil that has a conditioner in it that swells seals and has prevented more than a few people from even working on their gearboxes thus far ( I am going to try that myself ) , may be a good way to solve some of your problems if it is just a wearing or decaying seal causing your leak .
Hope this helps you guys as much as it has for me
Q: If a member post a question and then answers his own post with informative links and such does this mean he qualifies for Advance Newbie Status or just a general idiot ?????? ROFL
