My new toy! 1990 SR5 Ext Cab 4X4 Pretty much stock except for the Smitty built front and rear tube bumpers, Warn winch and 31 X10.5 's Thing is, this rig is MINT! Seriously, damn near showroom shape. Some minor surface rust that'll be cleaned up in the very near future is the WORST thing on this truck. Couldn't pass it up when I found it, and I wasn't even seriously looking for one at the time. Just a fluke really! lol
Currently have those bumpers off and will be blasted and coated before re-installing. Considering a few add on brackets for lights etc. A work in progress for now. Considering upgrading the headlights as it's a whole lot easier with the bumper OFF (see pics). Can't get at the front grill with it on lol.
Anyway, here's a few pics for those interested!

Hey guys,
I recently joined the Yota club with my first truck i've ever bought
Ended up buying a 1991 SR5 V6 pickup. So far, well, so far she needs some more money into it.
Exhaust has popped off both the mounts, so now shes just chilling. Easy fix.
Tires have some wobble, unsure if its just road noise from the tires, or worn out joints, or bearings. Have to look into that.
And, the worst of all, she leaks oil. Valve cover gasket/s is pooched. Started leaking oil on my driveway
Anyways, back to the positive side of things, im super happy so far with how she drives, looks, and performs. Cant wait for the snow season!!!!

Whats your thoughts?

thanks for the comments guys, i really love my 2 door.... but honestly it's hard for me because i go diving and fishing alot with my family and makes it harder to transport everyone and all my gear. it would be easier with 2 more doors!..lol. but i will never get rid of it. lately i have been having some major problems with the timing and distributor.... so i think. could be anything. but anyways you all have some sick ass rigs!!! thanks again

Lots of inspirational yotas on here! my head is spinning.

she has 125,000kms
shes completely stock besides a K&N filter. Plans are to give it a 2-3" lift with either 32's or 33's, going for something with a clean look that can be used mainly for daily driving and getting through the winter with ease. I see alot of other BC yotas here!

This is my '88 2wd 22R 4spd manual short bed. My first Toyota, and indeed first vehicle. My dad had one of these when I was a child and I never forgave him for selling it. I just got this about 2 months ago for $350, and have already replaced a few things and made some minor repairs. Right now she's registered unfit for the road (hence the lack of plates) due to missing/broken parking brake cables (those are in the mail). It seems like parts of the emissions control are missing (no cat amongst other things) and I will be amending that, however, I'm lucky enough to not have to get an e-test done on it (it's actually never had an e-test according to drive-clean ontario) care of where my farm is (middle of nowhere).

Here she is in all her glory, sitting outside the workshop she's been spending most of her time in recently. Might not look like much now, but a few grand and some summer love will change that.

Obligatory right-side view, as you can see the original owner opted to not get the side mirror. I have about 3 of the mirrors though and will likely put one on for symmetry's sake. I'm going to patch over the antenna hole since the one on the bed won't fit and I'm not keen on making it fit.

Can't show the passenger side off without showing off the driver's. Obligatory left-side picture. Yes, those are trailer lights being used as tail lights, I have a box with 2 stock tail-lights for each side but will probably never use them. I am going to replace the bed with something a little higher up (top of the wheel wells) and heavier. The bed is extremely lightweight right now (you can see the rear leaf springs separating) and this makes for a fairly bumpy ride.

Interior shot. Not much to say here, bench seats, split in the dash (oddly in the same place the dash was split on my dad's truck), torn flooring. In the box is a cheap radio to fill the gaping hole where the radio (one of the few options that this truck actually has/had) used to be. Half the interior wiring is cut/broken off at the fuse box which is a pain and just another thing that I should really fix (thank god my job involves complex circuits and electronic devices, interior wiring on a truck from the 80s should be a walk in the park).

This bad boy is what's under the hood. Considering the mileage (223k km or about 140k miles) and dubious maintenance/tuneup frequency I am probably going to be spending a lot of time under here. I'm going to rebuild the engine next summer, though it doesn't seem like it needs it. Right now the only real issue under the hood is the alternator which needs new brushes, that's the next thing on the list.
So far I've replaced the front shocks, brake calipers, and starter mag-switch contacts. Next is getting the alternator up to snuff and then parking brakes. The area contained within my farm is relatively flat, however there are a few large "leave 'er" rocks and culverts that stick up out of the ground, I think this means after the alt and brakes I need to find some bigger rims and tires.
