I know, that's a bit much, ....but it's who Toyota uses, and Toyota would have charged me 1500! ....for them to do it! lol. QUITE THE MARK UP, EH? lol.

THERE IS ONE, online, that I've heard is REALLY reputable. I'd have to check around. But, if I were you..... competition is high in this economy, Brudda,.... find out through word of mouth 'who's the best round you', ya know? See what you can get, .....>I'd bet around 650$?
That first one sounds perfect! I want to get the best of the best so i won't have to worry about the it for a while, ya know? Do they ship their transmissions?

This is true, i could just do that.. but the previous owner put about $3000 worth of work into the last year including a top end rebuild, new wires, new rotors and drums, new pinion seal, ect... and i'm just thinking if i get the best transmission available that will last. i shouldn't have to worry about repairs for quiet some time.

Thanks for the help man.

Hey Badger, .... that's a nice truck you have... and His? >>>> 82-83, Is my guess, by the pattern. MAYBE 81 has the square lights as well..... can't remember, ...but that truck is DEFINITELY no newer than 83. 84 is when the body style like the 1st gen 4Runner started.

Diablo,.....

Honestly, I would NOT pay that kind of shipping, if you know what I mean(....meaning, ..... would be HEFTY, lol.) I'm very doubtful they ship..... it's a popular Import Trans Place, ....but not popular like AAMCO(Trans Chain). Toyota dealers around me use them, ....not MOST CA dealers, etc., ya know? lol. I was just trying to give you an idea on what a good shop can offer as a price.

Honestly..... I would get asking around with the professional builders around you, Diablo.... you know, people that put together whole motors, etc. They OFTEN have situations where the person they're building for needs a trans, or WANTS one.... And once you get a name, ... DIG DEEPER! I wish I had with my motor, ya know?(Trust me, ...it's been a YEAR LONG NIGHTMARE for me, lol.) I started asking around on the trans, ......and that's what happened, ....almost EVERY builder, then the dealer near me, .... they all said, "They're the best QUALITY, ....not speed, but it'll get done in a reasonable time." A trans 're-do' is pretty straight forward, Diablo..... but I would imagine>>> 'IS OFTEN BLUNDERED!' So just be sure you don't use a shop that you hear lots of 'BAD' about....and even with some good, as I said, DIG! LOL.

You're right. It's an 83 22R... He's told me a hundred times what year it is and I can never remember. I always want to call it an 88. I think he's still trying to sell it if anyone's interested

Oh and thank you. Glad to finally have it back on the road. Still gutless as ever but at least she runs. Needs some TLC in the paint department- ie the fenders. I put up a video on YouTube after I adjusted a few of the valves. Sounds pretty good. I went and watched it one last time before I posted the link on here and I'm glad I did. My wife can be heard talking to my daughter about being naked, and for a split second my naked daughter appears. UGH.

You sound like my wife

I'm done for a while. It just spent nearly 4 months in the garage. I am in no rush to move it back in. As much as I enjoyed driving the wife's Durango, I missed my truck big time. It'll get a new coat of paint down the road. Probably whenever we move back to WA. I got a cousin up there that can do it. Just gotta order the paint
