Less than 500 miles & I have torn a CV boot... Diff-drop is needed to relieve some binding. Relaxing the T-bars a bit didn't do much for vides. I run 4Hi a lot on snowy roads, so my front driveline needs to be setup right. Anyone recall how old Downey offroad made their CV's, or what they used for boots?

^I'm anxious to get a reply on this. I've got manual hubs but I don't want my cv's to go after 500 miles of offroad driving diff drop? Cheers

They had slip yoke shafts custom made from Porsche cv's.

They also offered spiral cv boots. Last time I talked with Jim he said they bought them and relabeled them as they did with quite a few parts.

I have looked for the slip yoke shafts, but found that SAS is about the same by the time you beefed everything up. The slip yoke when new was like 800.

2" body lift. Some kind of non-sagging rear coils. 33" tires.

Nice Toyotas on this thread.
Here's my 95 I put coil spring/1.5"bj lift on it recently. 236K still running good. Working on a list of other goodies I want to put on soon....hubs should be on they're way so it's a start.

absolute cracker thread fellas.
Really helped me out. I wouldn't have known I need to get lowering brackets for the panhard rod or brake sensor if it wasn't for you guys.
So far I've ordered cruiser springs for the back with 100 series shocks which should give me 3" lift.
Ordered 1.5" ball joint spacers with diff drop and sway bar drop brackets. sorting out my front shocks tomorrow. then all I will need is a steering damper and the rear brackets mentioned earlier! If i get my car back from the engine rebuild i will install all the suspension parts next weekend and post up some pics!
Will I need spring compressors for the rear springs?
Cheers

Ok, where is the update on how it faired the ditching? Its been ten days and still no word on how it did. I like the tire/rim set you got.... might do something similar with mine.

Been busy working and playing and clearing a spot for my new 36x36 shop.

Actually came out of it with very little damage considering it went off the road, down a 6' bank, hit pretty good on the front bumper, and flipped it up on it's side.

The only "damage" was the front fender and the power antenna... easy fix, not a scratch anywhere else. I think the bumper/nerfs/tires and a couple of saplings and some blackberry bushes kept it from touching the ground.

I did manage to pop 2 beads on my tires. Then the tow truck driver drug my rim across the asphalt and trashed the lip on it and then charged me $350 for the damn recovery and tow.

I also had to pull the spark plugs and blow the oil out of the cylinders... all over the engine bay I just pressure washed before putting the new engine in. In true Toyota fashion it fired right up though. Might just fix it and sell it since it's the first rig in 23 yrs i've wrecked.

On your spring compressor question....you don't really need to if you want to just disconnect the brake line. I didn't want to do that so I rented a coil spring compressor, it sucked, if I were to do it again I would have rented the kind that attaches to the outside of the springs on either side, not the single one that goes up on the inside of the spring, not enough room in there.
Good luck with the mods!

Cheers mate, so it's the brake line that restricts it.
I'll just buy the coil compressors, and yes, I'll be getting the ones that go on the outside. used them before, theyre great things!
I'm still unsure if I will need to extend my brake lines for the 3" rear springs, will have to see when I get it on there.

here is mine.
1.5" ball joint spacers with drivetech enduro 2" extended shocks in the front. as far as I know, there is no cranking on the torsion bars.
apparently 3" lifted springs in the rear with gabriel 100 series cruiser shocks.
33x12.5x15 Maxxis Bighorns on ROH sunraysias, approx 3.25-3.5" backspacing (-15 offset).
Rubs on the bottom corner of the bullbar so I'm going to cut that off, bash the pinch weld and then see how it goes. Haven't tried to see how much it rubs at full compression yet. Will take some proper pics and post up when it's all done.

Well done sir, that is one sick rig. Got this same lift to go In next week and this got me pumped up! Also made me rethink the white lettering

make sure you can get a wheel alightment straight after...mine was shocking after the lift. only half the front wheel was on the road and it was pulling something crazy.
my brake lines see ok but I haven't checked them at full stretch.

the white lettering on the tyres? yeah im not sure if i like it or not, but mine are usually covered in mud.
