I don't think you have to bend the bracket, been a while since i've played around with my alt but i think the top arm is adjustable if you loosen the bolt not 100% sure on that one

I bought a newly built 130 amp alternator from Automotive Exchange & Supply a little over two years ago. So far, so good. They will either make you a new alternator de novo or rebuild your old alternator. This is a direct bolt-on replacement and comes with a three year warranty.

I am not affiliated with them, just a satisfied customer.
