Plug-n-play alternatori upgrade.

i know this has probably been asked before, but my preliminary search did not turn up anything i could use so i'm going to go ahead and ask it again as am running out of time. Need to get my truck (dd) running again as soon as possible. Posting this before leaving for work.
So my alternator is almost definitely toast: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...oblems-270690/

That being the case i am wanting to go ahead and upgrade it rather than just replace it. And due to the lack of time i want to go with a plug and play type alt.
Stock bracket is a must and the availability from a prompt and reliable seller of an adapter is required(or no adapter needed). Those being the prerequisites what alternators do y'all recommend. I'm not after any crazy increase but i plan to charge dual batteries run a winch and stereo, some extra lights and possibly at some point oba. Oh and i would like to add an inverter to charge my laptop. So i figure nothing more than 150 ish amps would be necessary at this point as when i have more time down the road i can always upgrade again and mess with the bracket.

So fire away: (please list vehicle, vehicle year and anything to watch out for to make sure i get the right part)
Thanks,
Speed

Well i'm outta time on this one. Just gonna order a stock 60 amp and upgrade sometime down the road, i hate to do it, but i need a working truck. Thanks for all your help guys.

That said i'm still interested to know what all is plug-n-play with these motors.

Can't order till the am(gotta call the store) so you still have time to convince me.

I got one from Advance Auto for my 88 Pickup (22RE), it was a new Bosch. If you go to their site, they list several different 70 amp options. I looked into a couple other bolt ons, but like you was short on time so just got what I could get right away.

Just posted some alternator info here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f96/...stance-269711/

130 and 170 amp options. Also a good time to upgrade some of you main wiring. See above link for another link on that too.

I have done the big three upgrade, and those alts are nice but i need it today. If i'd found those yesterday at this time and felt really rich, i might have ordered one.
Thanks though.

I ordered the 4runner one.
Two irritations in ordering.
Both oreilly and advance showed it as in store. Neither had it. So i ordered from advance because it had a $5 more core refund but same starting price. And... the fella who served me knows me and my truck and was not going to let me order a 4runner alt for a pickup, insisted it would not work.

That man is a fool, they are the exact same motor be it in a pick up or a 4runner.

Lol, yeah... he is one of those guy where the manual is the bible. Though it is funny that the 60 amp is listed as being compatible with both but the 70 is listed as only being compatible with the 4runner.

Yeah, i looked at that, apparently you have to bend the bracket and switch the pulleys. I plan to do that when i outgrow the 70 amp. Just didn't have time, or tools to do that right now.

just an FYI, the jag alternator uses the round plug thats the same as the 92 and below toyotas http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...852#Connector2
while the 93 and up uses the rectangle plug http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...095#Connector2
so you would have to change that plug out to run the jag alt. not a hard mod but something to remember if you go to do the upgrade.

Yeah, thanks for reminding me. That should be easy enough to make and adapter for(i want to keep the option of putting a stock one in just in case.)

I was in the same boat as you a week ago. I ended up going with a power master 140 amp 12si alt from summit and the trail gear brackets. They both showed up around the same time and i installed it in the one wire configuration (just a 8 guage wire to the bat.) in under two hours. I know its not plug and play but it was the easiest and most beneficial mod Ive done to my rig yet!

Same question as ^.

I seriously considered it, but at this point in time i don't have $2xx dollars to throw at an alternator. Glad to hear it works easily.
