It's true, OC sucks for trailing. It's an hour at the least if you want to find a trail. Where in OC are you? I was trying to guess the park (to take some shots for myself, that hill looks tough =])

lol. i feel ya on the lack of trails. and go 2wd. more power to ya. 4x4er's are just wimps cause they dont have the skills to make it up the trails without 4 wheels spinnin. shoot, leave out the locker. show em how to crawl with 1 wheel spinnin. lol. looks nice though. sounds like ya got a lot of $$$ in that one.

Your truck looks good. OC is actually in a decent spot for weekend wheeling trips. Maybe nothing super close but lots for a weekend.

As for the no PS, they used to sell stripped down models of trucks. My '96 Mazda B2300 came with no PS, no AC, no stereo, vinyl seats, vinyl flooring, and no floormats straight off the lot. They don't really sell those stripped down models anymore. I actually miss that thing.

I like the look without a tailgate. It gives it somewhat more of a prerunner look.
I don't need it, whenever I got stuff in the back i got a net to put over it.

Who needs 4wd? You can clear anything with 50mph and some decent diff clearance!!

I drove it on the freeway for the FIRST time today!!! hahahaha
Around 65 it starts shaking, i think its because of impropper tire pressure.
Its just at that speed though, once you go slower or faster than that, it stop..

The motor sounded like it was struggling like no other at around 75-80mph.
What are your guys' 4cyl RE's like on the highway?

I heard the valves are pretty long, so they dont have that far to travel up and down, is this true?

Why do i need 4x4 fenders? Do i can make it look like a 4x4 when its not? Thats like slapping a TRD package sticker on a factory stock Taco.

I guess my favorite thing about the 4x4s is that the front wheels have power, but i'm picky like that. And i live practically in a forest so i can go 20 minutes in any direction to hit a trail.

Seriously though; you have a nice truck, and if you aren't wheeling on a regular basis then you probably don't need a 4x4 (but realize that you are on a mostly 4x4 forum so you are bound to catch some flak).

I loved my old 93 2wd 5sp 22re. It didn't have PS either (which i actually didn't mind at all), and got 30 mpg all day long (something my 4runner has wet dreams about). Drove all over the state with that truck and loved it, wish i still had it for a DD, and the 4runner as a dedicated trail rig.

4wd fenders have a bigger wheel flare that match the bed's flare perfect, the side marker lights are flipped over, grille is nicer same with the lower valance.

Yup, 30mpg all day long. It was an awesome truck (especially compared to the '91 auto 2wd that i owned before it). It would hold 90 on the interstate with no qualms whatsoever. I sold it, and a week later the buyer wrecked it... gotta love that.

Nope it was a 2.4. It went a little high in the RPMS at 90 (~4000) so it was a little loud, but it never complained.

I heard the valves in the 2.4 22RE are pretty long, so they dont have that far to travel up and down, thus its not SO horrible to rev in high RPMs.. is this true?

how come Im the only one who got caught doing that^^^?

Nice truck for 2wd. Ill tell you why 4wd is so much nicer though. you have more control when your sliding around in the desert at 80. with only the back wheels spinning you get a lot of understear and then it suddenly grips and you spin out. with a 4x4 you keep the steering more linear....just my personal experiences.
