Pics of newly mounted 33X10.5

I'm not a fan of everyone who makes a new thread every time they lift their rig or add new tires, but I figured I'd post my findings with my new 33s for anyone looking to run a similar setup.

I just picked up a set of 33 X 10.5s BFG ATS and took them out for they're maiden voyage yesterday. Before I left I pulled the front inner fender liner and pounded the pinchweld flat.

My setup consists of
86 Toyota 4runner
-3" Downey leaf springs (probably only good for 1" of lift)
-Marlin Crawler 6" shackles (good for 1.25" of lift)
-BJ spacers up front with stock T-bar setting
-2" wheel spacers
-Stock 15" alloys (4.75" backspacing I believe)

Now onto the pics. Sorry for the poser pics, I sold my stock 4 cylinder third member with the aussie locker so I can swap in a V6 with stock 4.88s. Now I just need to buy a new lockright. Wheelin an open rig after being locked just isn't the same...

IFS Flex

Now here's the problem, the tires rub the back of the rear fender wells.

Looks like I'm going to have to do some trimming. I guess I could always just add a body lift or get 1" or 1.5" wheel spacers, but I like the current center of gravity of the runner. Hope this helps somebody.

looking awesome! So do you have the 4.88s in there right now? Or are you still running the 4.10s? If you're running the 4.10s, how do they feel? A buddy was trying to convince me that 4.10s and 33s would be very tolerable. But I don't really believe that, seeing as how my truck is really struggling with just 31s.

You put on wheelspacers and you're gonna rub the outside lip of that rear fender. Either trim it a bit, new flared fiberglass bedsides, or get a mild bodylift. Are you sprung under or over?

Oh, and can I get a picture of how you mounted those hellas? I've been thinking about doing something like that myself.

Maybe you could use a bump stop to slightly limit up travel.
I would also like to see more of the lights. Nice truck BTW.

That would defeat the purpose of buying bigger tires in the first place- off road enhancement. I think trimming and pounding pinch welds, or maybe a body lift only if the former doesn't work.

You buy bigger tires for ground clearance, not flex...

Thanks 91_4runner for answering, I was out of town that weekend and forgot all about this thread. Yeah my 4runner is spring over.

About the pillar mounted Hellas, at first I simply just pulled off the 'upper hood' drilled two 3/8" holes and bolted the Hellas in place. They shook way too much, so tonight I pulled them out and put another piece of thin sheet metal under the upper hood and put everything back. The sheet I used was actually just an old exhaust manifold cover that I pounded flat with a 3lb sledge. Here's a pic of the setup. It's pretty blurry, but you can see the small pieces of sheet metal I sandwiched behind the upper hood

It's now more stable. Although it's back on the 4runner, it's not complete. The upper hood is held in place by 2 plastic clips and 3 screws. The screws are towards the center where as the clips are the furtherest to the outsides, so those should help stabilize the lights too. I'll pick two new clips up from the dealership tomorrow and test it out.

On my old 87 Runner I had those same tires and loved em....that and 571 gears with my auto

Mine were perfectly centered in the wheel wheel and didn't rub like yours. I had the factory stock packs with a zuk center coil http://gearinstalls.com/dadcoil.htm to get the 3 or 4 inches of lift....while still having the stock packs and stock shackles. I see you have the Downeys....too bad they didn't do the math when they were drilling the center pin.
