when i had my 88 standard cab I did the same thing. I think I got some bucket seats from an 89 or 90 4runner. each seat had one hole on the rear mount that didn't line up and required drilling a hole in the floor of the cab. the seats were not 100% perfect fit (I think they are slightly offset to one side from stock), but it was close enough for me.

the only other thing I think I had to do was get a few new nuts + bolts. a couple for the new holes in the rear, and a couple because some of the front welded on nuts in the body had stripped out.

I have done the switch from the bench to buckets. All you have to do is take out the bench and bolt in the buckets, the mounts are already there. I you have carpet pull it up and find the center mount and poke a hole in the carpet to get the bolt through

I just put in some 1995 4runner SR5 seats I bought off eBay. They were $162 w/tax. They wanted $199 to ship but since they were so close and had trucks in the area anyway they delivered for free.

I have a 1987 DLX Xtra Cab with the 60/40 split bench seat. Only 4 of the 8 holes (4 per seat) lined up on both the driver and passenger seats. The outer front and rear holes lined up. They were a 1/16" off in the rear but there was no need to file or relocate the brackets or body holes as the bolt threaded in easily. It could have just been a little bending of the seat frames from transit.

The inboard seat brackets mounts (front and rear near the center hump) were not going to work. There was a tapped hole in the body for the front mount but it was off from the seat bracket by a good 1/2". I drilled the spot welds that helt the threaded nut to the crossmember and knocked it off. Then drilled new holes for both seats and through bolted it. The inner rear brackets did not line up to the "blank" hole the factory had covered with a plastic sticky cover. I had to drill new holes here as well and through bolt.

When done the seats move easily front to rear. Make sure you set each track an equally (I counted notches).

I LOVE these seats so much though. I took every hog ring out and support bar and washed the seat, seat back, and head rest cover of both seats. They now look new (except a bit of wear on the driveres edge) and smell like Tide.

Does anyone know where to find replacement foam for the seats? I like the feel of the stock ones in my 87 runner, their just worn out and needs some upkeep. If anyone could let me know I would appreciate it.

even though the poster you are responding to has only the one post, and it was 4 months ago - the "price" is sitting right there in that post; namely, a bench seat.
