Yotafool, nice work! That looks great. A friend of mine painted his back up lights red on a red runner and that also looked cool. I would black out my tail lights but that is less legal than the clears from what I have herd and I talked to a guy that got busted for that. Anyway, nice idea. What kind of paint did you use any way?

Especially with the $50 type.
No, they don't leak but the chrome paint does come off aroud the edges after a while.

I have generally found that you get at least near the going price for auto parts on ebay. If ebay is the only place you can find them, then how can they "seem" overpriced? If you want 'em, you might have to pay what they are asking.

And if possible, if anyone is nice enough to spend the time doing it I'd really really appreciate it, could you take a pic of the brake on and a turn signal? I'm iffy about dropping the cash but if it looks bangin I'll have to drop it. Thanks a lot.

They're not the same as the 2nd gen runner. Well, I wouldn't think so. You guys got your reverse lights in there too right?

Those are nice flamedx4 but they wont work on our 2nd gen 4runners. BTW you have a nice lookin pickup. I bet you have put some pennies into that thing.
Bike4miles, it was some tail light paint that my friend used on his BMW. He got it off ebay so i dunno the name of it.

No, just the turn signals and brake lights. I actually ended up replacing the stock backup lights because the looked so faded and yellow next to the tail lights. They were $100 a set.

See, check these before and after pics of before and after I replaced my backup lenses:

$100 later (not to mention the $350 for the bumper)

So if you really want it to look good with the tails, your going to have to fork over just as much cash for the backup lights. I had the faded ones on for a year with the clears and it drove me nuts.

Hey use this paint to paint your tail lights. i did this around november-ish 2003 and they still look great, looks OEM, transparent and glossy. i sprayed the outside and only the top part which is the turn signal, its a bit darker but hardly noticable in person. if u plan to do this, dont spray a thick coat because it wont be too transparent. i had to wet sand mine and respray it again.

That looks freaking awesome and exactly how I want it to look. Has anyone found a good source for clear tails yet?

Bike4miles- where did you get your back up lights?

They have them for any year and for pickups and 4Runners too. Good ol ebay... Those clear ones you're talking about are listed right now too.
