parts interchangable? rear differential

I just bought a 1993 pickup, i want to take out my rear disks and differential out of my 1987 and put it in the new truck...could i just take the whole axle assembly out of the 1987 with the disks and just swap them with the 1993's axle assembly with the drums? I am pretty sure they are interchangeable but i just want to double check!

thanks

yep, should be pretty interchangeable. the spring perches are wider on the '93 axle and i *think* the springs may be as well, but you shouldn't have any problems(just use whatever spring plates/u-bolts that'll work)

Rear disk brakes? That wouldn't be stock on any '87 that I know of. Nor any stock Tacoma for that matter. Did you mean drums?

oh, if you were referring to putting the third and shafts in the '93 housing, they'll most definitely fit.
