Parts ID. Rubber hose under oil filter..Coolant??

Can anyone tell me if the hose running under the oil filter on a 92 3.0L v6 4runner is a coolant hose?? It approx 3/4" dia and runs from the lower rad hose connection at the block,n along the left side of the engine under the oil filter to some round (oil cooler???) thing on the left rear corner of the block. It feels kind of spongy and oil soaked and I'd like to avoid getting stuck with a coolant blowout if possbile. Thanks!
