Overheating issue/fuel pump
Recently put in a newly rebuilt 3VZE from oregon engine rebuilders and when i put antifreeze in it and started there was no coolant flow. even when the aftermarket gauge was reading close to 210 deg there was still no flow. the thermostat is new so i dont think that is the problem. also the waterpump only had about 60k miles on it and seemed in good condition when installed.
when i try to crank it in the morning, it takes several minutes before it finally starts. and when i shut it off i can hear the fuel pump moaning trying to keep pressure. does anyone know what the problem could be? thanks for the help!

I always test my thermostats on the kitchen stove with a thermometer, even new ones, before I put them in. It only takes a few minutes for the piece of mind of knowing what temp it really opens at.

I'd take the thermostat OUT of that new engine, just in case that 'is' the problem. See if you get flow, with it out.
How long has it been since the fuel filter was replaced. Some have said that Toyota suggests NOT changing it, but when I bought my 92, the previous owners had evidently never changed it. The backpressure wore the fuel pump OUT. So, $400 later, I have a new fuel pump and filter.

Make sure that you pull off one of the heater hoses( behind the engine near the firewall) and pour coolant into it. Youve got an air bubble in there... must bleed it out. DONT OVERHEAT YOUR NEW ENGINE...... WARRANTY WILL BE VOID.
Good luck... fill the heater hose till overflow and then run engine with radiator cap at half turn.

thanks stooge i'll have to do that sometime this weekend. well guys it wasn't the fuel pump or the filter. after a few hours of testing and trouble shooting, the old haynes manual said its most likely the ignitor because i dont have spark, and here i was thinking i wasn't getting gas...
