overheating 22re questions

yes, i did buy it a month ago and have already put 2k into replacing everything to new. i figured it was either stuck open or not there, ive had to use that trick too. im going with the clutch for now because its alot cheaper than a radiator, and it seems to be the concensus. the only time it overheats is at idle or very low speeds, then back to normal.

Didn't seem to overheat at idle but I'll give a test later on the hill where it always does it. I know everyone said to go oem but I got this one from advance auto for 29 bucks on special so I figured I'd give it a shot for so cheap. Seems to be ok built, it's a imperial brand.

Did you fix the problem? My truck runs just under half on the temp gauge, but since I rebuilt it and bored it 1mm over it's been overheating when I'm offroad, stop and go traffic, or extended idling. Once I get moving again it goes down to normal.
I just changed my thermostat but the dumbass at autozone told me it was the only one they had. Go back the next day and find out they have 4, and don't know which temp it is. I think it's the oem temp though. Also did the CTS recently, and finishing the "super cleaner" cooling system flush.

Might be worth checking out the fan clutch:

That is what cools the engine when moving slow enough that there is no air naturally flowing through the radiator.

Thats what I was thinking too. I checked it at operating temp today and I could slow it down with little and even spin it backwards while the engine is running. I'm going to take it off and try adding oil and see what happens.
