Over/under drive?

Is it possible to put an over/under drive setup on these rigs? I'm looking at buying a lifted v6 and want to figure how much i could potentially improve the gas mileage. I can't find anything with google so i thought i would ask here.

Gas mileage improvement-

Smaller tires
Keep foot out of gas

lol, seriously though, i haven't seen a pulley kit for these motors, probably because no body bothers to upgrade them. They just swap in a 3.4 or something else. But you knew that already!

But that just takes the fun out of it. I'm afraid that if i bought the truck i wouldn't have the money for a full blow 3.4 upgrade. Plus is that really much of a mileage upgrade?

That's why they call it "saving" my friend...

I'd think so, you get more power and the engine is way more efficient than the 3.0. More power translates into less energy needed to move the vehicle. Besides, if you shop around on CL and car-part.com, you could probably do a swap for way less than 2k if you did it yourself. (i can get a complete engine here for around 600-700.) The most expensive things are the manifolds, harness and engine. From what i read it bolts right up to the existing transmission, so you just need the engine. Long story short, just enjoy driving it and worry about upgrades later!

I almost went that way... and if i had more time i would have. But i found a cherry 4-banger for a steal and got it instead.
