Opinions about paint job price 94 Toyota truck
Hello
My 1994 Toyota truck and I have about 296k on it..Its been a wonderful truck and after some thinking I want to keep my truck longer (economy plus dont want to go in debt over a new vechile)
Ok Im in Indiana Vincennes. I talked to a guy who does paint and body work (DJ Auto Clinic)..He will strip the truck (take mirrors, door handles, etc off..fix all the dents (mostly parking lot dents) put a base coat and couple clear coats..My truck has some surface rust on hood and top cab..(from sitting in the Florida sun) but no rot on any of the panels and the interior is in excellent condition..
He thinking around 2k this would be a quality paint and not a "blow and go"..Im wondering is this about right?
Opinions please...
Thanks
Pete
P.S. I plan on keeping it around for another 200k

A buddy of mine is getting his painted by a reputable shop for $1800.
This is with the bed excluded and him stripping off all the trim, but the shop will be painting the interior of the new hood and fender (which he is providing loose).
2K sounds ballpark for a good paint job.

Hello
Thanks guys for responding I thought this was a descent price for what needs to be done. There is some body work that needs to be done (minor) truck really doesnt have surface rust but no rot and its a no hit truck. Engine looks like new inside. i will take a picture tell me what you think?
Thanks you told me I wanted to know!

bud i suggest you look into doing the paint job yourself
you could do it with like rustoleum spray paint, roll on, or interlux briteside marine paint, or hell dupli color paintshop would be nice
i painted my rig with rustoleum spray cans and some rustoleum bedliner and i must say it came out very nice
if i was going to be keepin the rig then i would put a couple of more coats of each on it and then do a few coats of clear..all in all i could have a paint job on my truck that will last for YEARS for less than $150.....
just throwin the idea out there!..lol

FWIW,
Instead of having my rig painted I bought a Sata gun, 10cfm @ 90psi compressor and a cheap 1/2 gallon of auto paint. I practiced on everything in sight for a couple months. Once I got the hang of it I painted my truck.
Saved me a fortune!
Painted the bed too...

Are you talking about the truck or flatbed? If it's the truck it was a standard auto primer. I can't remember which one.
The flatbed I used an acid based primer. Funky stuff. The exact name I can't remember.

you have the truck (especially with the flatbed) that i am most envious of on this entire site.... except for the gentleman with the $30,000 2nd on 'mog axles. im hoping to have my runner painted that same fj beige sometime in the next year or so.
