Opinions On This 91 4Runner
So I put a post on a local forum to trade my 93 Civic for some sort of 4x4. I've been PM'd by a member there and he wants to trade me for a 91 4Runner.
Here's what I know so far:
91 4Runner
274k km (100k something miles)
22RE with the 5spd
Frame is in good condition
Has had some body work done on the rear 1/4s but no rust on it
Drivable and should past safety and smog (might need brakes)
EDIT: Founds some pictures (oh...it's white, always wanted a white vehicle).

I'm waiting on some pictures or I might try to meet up with him over the weekend. Doesn't sound too bad and as far as I know all Canadian 4Runners are 4x4 so that isn't a worry.
Opinions?

Considering you're trading the Civic, I'm assuming straight up, I'd do it.
It'd be a good people hauler and semi-wheeler, although you've already got one.
Have they sent you any pics yet?

I found some pics on the forum and added them to my original post. Apparently a friend of mine owned it so I pm'd him for the skinny on the thing.
Found out that the front end is good no play in the ball joints or TREs and it has fairly new 235/75R15 BFG All Terrians on it.

I'm not buying a 4Runner to go fast. Besides, the 22RE won't live in it forever.

Yeah, the 22RE is going to be more reliable than the 3vze. Not as quick, but it's a fine motor. If the truck is in fairly good running order, than it seems like a fair deal. 100k is pretty low too.
BTW, anybody know if the Canadian 4Runners have a different front end? Here in the US, that front end is only on the '92-'95 4Runners. '90 and '91 had sealed beam headlights.

Ah, I see it now. I'm not sure but it's something to check out when I see it.

i say some kind of front end work has been done. if it is indeed a 91, that grill is from a later model, and that hood does not fit correctly down the passenger side of the vehicle (left in the pic).
the pics are bad, hard to tell.
however, look at the frame, especially around the front end and the bumper , see if you can find any signs of repair. also the right inner fender. looks for signs or repair/dents/creases.
my feeling is that it was wrecked in the past and the repair job isnt the best ever.

Clarkston area.
It's in fairly good shape, some rust but runs solid.
I'll definitely check that out.
