Opinion needed - rear oil seal

So, it looks like I'll be doing a rear oil seal soon, and my question is what will be easier, remove the transmission, or pull the motor? It's a 3.D'oh, 4 by of course, with A/C which is why I'm thinking of taking the transmission route. Any comments or ideas?

I'd pull the tranny. Both are pain in the butt jobs, but atleast with the tranny there's less to remove and there's no chance of creating vacuum leaks, breaking fragile stuff, and other junk after reassembly.

Oh, and there's no fluid to drain and refill. You don't "have" to drain the tranny....just makes a bit easier. Less weight.

The transmision is usually easier. It's not too hard a job if you have some mechanical skills. A good tranny jack will help a lot, the transmission and transfer case together are heavy and awkward. It would be a good time to replace the trasnmission input seal, and the clutch of course.

no clutch, it's an auto. But that's a good idea on the input seal. I f I look at it as well, it gives me a chance to do U-joints and the Diff seal too.
