One thing after another.

Well now that I've gotten all the codes taken care of I now have a leaking intake gasket. I'd have never found it if I hadn't been Seafoaming the motor last night.

So how hard is it to change the intake gasket on an 86 22re?

I swear I feel like this motor just waits until I get one thing fixed to break something else.

Are you talking where the intake manifold attaches to the head or where the intake plenum attaches to the manifold? The manifold to head is the more involved of the two. Either way mark the maze of vaccume hoses if you have to unhook them.

It's between the intake and the head.

It's not hard; it's just a pain in the ass.

Well, it's a 20 year old truck, so you kind of have to expect that things are going to come up. I feel for you though. I'm working through some issues as well...but in the end it's all worth it and you'll have a truck that will last you a long time at 20+ years old. The good news in all of it is the 22re is simple to work on (relatively, compared to other engines at least), and the parts are inexpensive and easy to come by through many sources.
