OME suspension stuff for Trucks
I was told you guys on this site would be the ones to ask advice from...I've been thinking of upgrading some suspension components on my 93 x-cab 4x4. Rear leafs are pretty much flat so I wanted to fix the saggy butt. Figured I might as well get something better than stock while I'm at it. I feel I've got enough sense to be able to install this on my own.
I heard TRDParts4U.com was a good place to get OME stuff and these are the prices they gave me:

> BJS1 Ball Joint Spacers 1.5" $99.00
> N98 OME Front Shocks $140.00
> CS019R or CSO20R OME Dakar Rear Springs $241.00
> N85 or N94 OME Rear Shocks $140.00
> SD33 OME Steering Damper $62.00
> SB43 OME Bushing Kit $40.00
> U53B OME U Bolts $34.00
> IFS Truss $80.00
So I am wondering if I want the medium or the stiff rear springs? Anyone had experience with either? I don't do any towing but occasionally load up the back to haul something.
Also, do I really need the beefy torsion bars? Shocks will be a must because the current ones are gone and won't be long enough, steering damper is good as well as U-bolts and the IFS truss. What's the deal with the bushings? Where do they go?
Does anyone have anything to add? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I got the OME HD's. They ride firm but I don't mind the ride and I've gotten used to it. I also have them teamed with Bilstein HD's which makes it a tad stiffer but I'll tell you what: If you want a set up that hauls, and hauls well, look no further. Load up 500+ pounds in the bed and the Springs ride like a champ, and the Bilsteins work extremely well at helping control the load and they eliminate body roll so well that they virtually eliminate the impact a load will have on the handling of the truck, within reason of course. A very safe set up. I have had 2900 pounds worth of payload in the truck with the HD's and was still 1/2" from the bump stops. I wouldn't recommend doing this all the time, but if you're a guy that hauls close to or near the max payload every now and then, these are your Springs.
Having said that the medium duties should still haul well and you'll get the benefit of better ride quality unloaded. So you really need to evaluate if you can live with a stiffer ride with the HD's, and/or if you actually need them too.
To add: OME builds really high quality suspension components for these trucks. I wouldn't hesitate to consider going with any of the parts you listed if your stock parts are shot.

It's pretty important to match the OME spring with the OME shocks. In this case, the suggestion to do so isn't marketing my OME, its that OME springs are stiff and the shocks are valved just right. For instance, the combination of OME springs and Pro Comp shocks was crippling as Pro Comps are valved very firm. Stiff shocks plus stiff springs give a terrible ride. OME shocks are very soft compared to the Pro Comps.
Now that's out of the way. I bought medium duty springs and they work well for my 4Runner. I don't think I'd want the heavy duty springs unless I was going off road while loaded with 500lbs+ of gear on a frequent basis. I'm sure my med. duty set up could handle the above but perhaps not with as much grace and ride height.

i wouldn't think you would need the stiffer torsion bars. plans on adding an aftermarket front winch bumper maybe but for stock bumpers less weight im sure your old ones will be fine. If they are quite sagged and you can't correct this with torsion bar cranking then you can re index the torsion bars. but i'm sure you will be okay. Looks like a good setup list tho. Welcome to yota tech

Thanks for the help guys. I think I've decided on the MED duty springs, shocks, steering stabilizer, IFS truss, and BJ spacers. I'm not too sure what the busings kit is - do you guys know which bushings these would be? U-bolts are probably a good idea although the current ones look fine.
Will I get extra height out of this setup which requires me to raise the rear brake adjuster?

The bushings are for the rear spring/shackle, you need them. Always use new u bolts. I got the full package, med ride with T bars and ball joint spacers. I am still installing, have it down to body/frame. TRDPARTS4U was great, and the quality of the OME parts are excellent. Get the T bars also !

You'll get lift out of that setup, yes...but not a HUGE amount. Maybe between 1.5" and 2"...MAYBE.
As for your brake proportioning valve, only adjust it if you need to. It's not difficult to do at all.
Also, as for the t-bars. I'm running an ARB front bumper (which isn't light by any means), and my stock t-bars with nearly 190,000 miles on them are holding ride height just fine. You don't necessarily need the t-bars...but it's your call. If the stock ones are fine, then keep them...but that's just my opinion.

Did you go with the N85 or 94 shocks for the rear with the medium duty springs? And how are they?
I'm doing my research now for a similar set up on my 92 v6. I'm probably going with the torsion bars and no ball joint spacers for now.
(Also, I saw in one of your other threads that you have a high-clearance rear bumper. Can you tell me a little bit about that? I know this is off-topic, so if you don't want to respond to that in this thread, feel free to pm me.)

Yeah...I know, I was trying to find a thread that answered my questions and I saw a post that OP made somewhere else about OME stuff, so I searched his threads and found this one and it was pretty much exactly what I wanted, minus the question that I asked.
