old toy diesel in 2nd gen runner
so looking around on ebay i found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1981-...QQcmdZViewItem and i was curious if anyone knew how closely it matched the 22re trans and motor mounts. or would the vw diesel be a better choice
thanks

I don't know if that one is a bolt up or not, regardless, it's going to be even more anemic than the stock motor... Go VW if you're going to do diesel.. at least until we can start getting some of those mid displacement turbo diesels that are being built for the Liberty.. :-)

I don't know if this is the same engine or not but is a great writeup about putting a toy diesel in a 91 pickup.

2L will bolt to a W56 bellhousing.
Motor mount will "bolt up" but should be cut and turned slightly
(from what I hear)
Some have done the later 2LTE swap...
2LTE head gaskets are like the 3.slow head gaskets....
new heads to "fix" the CRACKING problem are avail from aussieland
