Old idle air bypass

So going back and forth on how to fix an old idle air control valve because a new unit is non existent, or pondering on whether to get a newer style throttle body to run the control valve that mounts to the bottom, I didn't really want to spend that much. But seeing how my truck was a bear to start in the cold, then the high idle once it got warm, something had to be done.

So time to get crafty. How to bypass it with something else.

This little gem costs 20 bucks at oreilley. Add a 10 buck manual choke cable and 5 bucks in new hose.

Here ya go. Not the prettiest, and mounting options were a tad limited given the cable length, but it works really well. Cold starts like it should, and once ahe is warm with the valve closed it idles spot on.

All in all can't complain, and for the 35 bucks and 30 minutes of time. Part number for the valve at oreilley is 74627. Hope this helps anyone in need or saves someone a little coin.
