Oil pressure sender help, 89 pickup.

Hey guys, I have a 91 4x4 pickup with a manual transmission. I recently swapped a better condition 89 22re and pulled the existing 22re.

The engine purrs but I cant get the oil pressure sender working!! The new engine came with a oil pressure switch, I removed it and installed the old oil pressure sensor/sender; resulting in the needle not moving in off/low position.

I rewired from the quick connect and purchased a new oil pressure sensor for a 91 pickup (my error, should have been a 89). Anyways same error, needle stays parked in off position.

When i ground the wire to the base of the sensor the needle jumps to full pressure indicating the wiring is good.

Using a multimeter and checking the resistance between the sensor connection and battery negative terminal shows open circuits on both sensor.

This is driving me crazy, any ideas?????

Wink

Did you use some sort of sealer on the threads to the block.

Your most likely not getting a good ground hence when you ground the sensor base it now reads like it should.:wabbit2:
