Oil Leak Near Top of Head

Oil Leak Near Top of Head
I have a newly rebuilt 94 model 3zve with an oil leak on the driver's side, near the firewall end of the head. The leak is somewhere near the top of the head; therefore, I think that rules out the pressure sensor below, or a leak at the bottom of the head (oil is also clear, no water in it). Oil is always present if you touch just below the lower rear corner of the head, just below the valve cover.
I'm trying to rule out everything but the head cover gasket.
Is there a seal on the firewall end of the cam shaft that could allow this leak?
In the FSM, I see a Camshaft Housing Plug, and a Camshaft Housing Rear Plate. Is this also a seal?
Also, I don't have access to the truck as it is out of town where I hunt.
Thanks All,

You have the classic symptoms of a (common) valve-cover gasket leak. When the gasket is installed, you must put "seal-packing" (I use RTV) in certain points where the gasket makes a corner. http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...e/cylinder.pdf (page 79). The rear of the head is one of those places. Make sure that the surface (metal) is clean enough to eat from before you put on the RTV; otherwise it won't stick and it will leak.

I just want to make sure when I make the trip to do the repair, I have the parts I need. Thanks Again.

Did you put RTV or FIPG around the cam seal before you inserted it during the rebuild? More than likely, it is just the valve cover gasket. Don't use FelPro gaskets to replace, use OEM or rockauto.com. Felpro gaskets don't seat correctly, and you will be redoing this same job in a couple of months. X2 on the seal packing in the points highlighted in the FSM!
