Off The Wall Question About Engine Computers.

Everyone here with a 22RE is always looking for power/performance out of there engine, we can upgrade the exhaust, the head and cam, and swap in a larger AFM, but what about the computer ?, is there a computer from a celica or other car/truck that would be plug and play and maybe gain us a little more power or performance ?. There probably isn`t anything thats plug and play, but i was just wondering if there was.

You're more limited by the design of the engine than the electronics hence why there aren't many options out there. The stock ECU can support a mild turbo up to about 130 HP so not much need to swap it out unless you're building a significantly modified engine. Early celicas were analog efi so those aren't interchangable and the FWD Celicas use a substantially different system than our trucks so likewise aren't interchangeable.

The aftermarket units allow you to fine tune ignition and injection parameters which can help the efficiency and power output of the engine.
