Obnoxious valvetrain

My 3.0 has the most insanely loud ticking. On cold start and for like the first 10-15 minutes of driving, its fine, no noises. But after that, what sounds like the valvetrain just starts going crazy. I usually hear it better with the windows up for some reason.

I was just wondering if thats a problem or if its normal on 3VZE motors.

Farmboy, a user here, posted a similar question about his 22RE, and I wanted to know if it was for the same reasons

Timing belt was done about 10 months ago, along with all drive belts. Had HG's done, so they had the heads off as well if that makes a difference

If you're not low on oil or if it doesn't need changing, the valves may just need readjusting. They may not have been set correctly when the heads were off, if they even did it. OR....make sure you're not actually hearing spark knock instead. Do you hear the noise under load or at idle or what?

Then again, maybe you're not getting enough oil to the top end. All worth checking.

Well, the best I can figure is that its usually after I let off the throttle and doesn't really happen unless I've been driving for a good half hour or so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 3VZE have tappets? If so, is that what I could be hearing?
