"O/D Off" codes 61 and 62

I have a 1991 SR5 V6 Auto Pickup that I just bought. It has 139,000 miles on it and runs great. However, the "O/D Off" light blinks constantly and the speedo works fine (as I've seen people ask about this). The truck drives good but, when it shifts into 2nd it has very little power/acceleration, making me think it's actually shifting to 3rd. Going up a steep grade would be impossible right now. So, would solenoid #1 and #2 cause my truck to drive like this? I read that #1 going out will cause the truck to have CRAPPY acceleration with delays in shifting and whatnot, which is not the case with my truck. When I drive in "2" it seems to have more acceleration power than in "D". In "D" it seems to shift from 1 to 3, in "2", 1 to 2, then I can put it in "D" for 3rd and I don't think it ever gets to 4th. I can't really tell by RPMs if that's what gear the tranny is actually in but from the speed/acceleration thats how it seems.

Hope I explained my problem enough, anyone who's encountered this problem or knows anything about it, please let me know what you think.

And one other thing, anyone have a diagram of the solenoids.

code 61: Defective No.2 vehicle speed sensor (in ATM)-ie the sensor is in the tranny
severed wire harness or short circuit

code 62: Severed No. 1 solenoid or short circuit-
severed wire harness or short circuit

hint: if codes 62-64 appear, there is an electrical malfuntion in the solenoid.

the above is from a factory 94 service manual, it should be the same however as 91.
its possible the tc is not locking up in 2,3or od.

Well, apparently if both of these are fried, the truck would have to be manually shifted, but this is not the case. My truck drives relatively good besides the o/d blinking and terrible acceleration in 2nd/and/or/3rd. What's the deal? Are they actually fried or is my truck trippin'?

Ok guys, I'm kinda pissed now. I couldn't afford the $400 for brand new solenoids ($189 for #1 and $209 for #2) from the stealership, which is ÅÅÅÅing outrageous btw, so I took some of my bro's advice and got the two from a pull-a-part place. I know this was a bad idea from the start but, I was really just betting my chips on whether or not they were new or not. Well, they were worse, and now my truck slips when accelerating in 1st. Maybe this caused by incorrect trans fluid levels? I still get codes 62 and 63, just now my truck runs crappier.

Please help me, I'm starting to wonder if the solenoids are even the problem. Is there a degree as to how badly they can malfunction, how the old ones were better than the new ones I swapped in, yet both still drew codes 62+63? I'm gonna put my old ones in tommorow, which will suck because it takes me a few hours. I'm hoping the problem doesn't persist even with the old ones back in. And for cryin' out loud, anyone know where I can buy these damned things cheaper?

And lastly, does ANYONE have the diagram of the solenoids? I want to make sure I'm swapping the right ones. I'm pretty sure I did but, just to check I'd like to see the diagram.

Please respond guys, I need your help. >:[

sounds like you need to get a factory manual and go through the trouble shooting section. i wish i new more about autos to help. id still look into the torque converter not locking up in 2,3and od, that would *should?* make it feel really slugish.

Hmm, torque converter? So maybe codes 62+63 = solenoid #3 which controls the ?

But yeah, I've never had an auto before and I'm not too sure whether I should've gotten one. Like I said, my truck drives pretty decent but, my old v6 5spd definitely had more power. My only worry with my situation right now is, if I actually spend the $400, will it drive better and would that damn light stop blinking already!!

Ok one more Q: Here's how the solenoids are positioned: [ ' ' - ]
The two side by side are the lockup and #1, and the other is #2 right? (this is beginning to feel useless heh)

I'm actually getting 62-63. That wont be fun if the wire is cut because it's all up in the tranny. So maybe replacing the solenoid will do no good, it's just the wires huh? Ehhh I hate electrical malfunctions!!
