Not getting fuel when starting?
Alright, now that I have the 4Runner back from my brother, i noticed something before we got it off the trailer. The truck really doesnt want to start. Now I know it's has recent plugs, wires, and a clean fuel line, but it just sits there and cranks over like it's not getting fuel. There is one important factor though, for some unknown reason my brother wired up the start to a push button. This means that you cant engage the starter with the key, you need to push the button and thats when it just cranks over. Sometimes I can hear a relay or two clicking as well when it sounds like its going to start, but it takes several tries and I know this isnt good for the starter.
Does anyone have ideas of what else to check? Is the computer not giving fuel cause it isnt calling for the starter to be turned on (being forced on)? It runs fine after it starts, no stuttering, stalling, lack of response or anything, but thats after it starts. There is however an EGR valve that isnt bolted up cause the little brother managed to ruin the threads to one of the screw holes.

Probably yer cold start injector or the cold start time switch. The cold start time switch is to the left on the front of the intake, theres two together there, the cold start injector is right on top of the throttle body, check the spec for both of those.

Thanks for the response. I actually figured out what it was yesterady as well. Cause my brother wired up the starter on a push button, the computer isnt really controling the starter at all. How my brother (previous owner) was starting it was placing the key in the "ON" position and holding the starter push button until it started up (took awhile he said). I solved it. If I hold the key in the "START" position (suplies suplies) then push the starter button it starts right up! So now I know my engine isnt messed up, it's just the wiring that James placed on in. Which I plan on rewiring up to begin with. Glad to know something wasnt worse than I thought.

I'm going to vote fuel pump not running
Hmm, The air flapper (Mass Air Flow Meter) only lets the fuel pump run UNLESS you are cranking the motor. In that case, when the Key is in START, the position of the MAF switch doesn't matter.
I think the custom starter button is skipping the signal to the relay that lets the fuel pump run when the key is in the START position and the MAF switch is open.

If only it was that easy. He doesnt remember half the time what he does. It's all good now. I just need to crimp me up a new wire tonight, got the wire and stuff last night when I went to get some stuff to fix my dimmer switch (which he also re-wired).
