I thought the bulbs may have been burned out, but they are fine. When i push my brake i get nothing from my rear tail lights.... all the fuses are fine.

Any ideas ?

Brake lamp switch. Located right in front of the linkage on the brake pedal.

If you have a mutimeter and NO cruise:
Remove switch.
Close switch by depressing the button.
Measure continuity between the two contacts.
If the meter pegs switch is good. Start measuring continuity of all you wires there is something open or changed value (you have broken or bent wire somewhere).

If you DON'T have a multimeter and NO cruise:
Remove switch.
Short the two WIRES together with a paperclip or needle nose (you can do this inside the connector).
Lights come on, Switch is bad.
Lights don't come on, Bust out the multimeter this is going to take a while.

If you have cruise (probably do) you have 4 wires coming off the brake light switch. Look in your TSM to find the proper testing procedure (It will be pretty much the same).

I can see the switch, it's cylindrical type with a plastic plunger. It's not jammed up and moves freely.

How i do i remove this sucker ?

 

Take a wrench and remove the nut on the side closest to the pedal. May have to squeeze/jam/contort your body too see it. Might want to bring a flashlight with you too.

 

Had a similar problem. Tested everything that could possibly be connected to the tail lights and all checked out good. Here's the weird part... when I tested the voltage at the fuse, I would get 12v on one side but not the other.

Pulled the fuse, not only did it visually look fine but also tested good for continuity. The fuse is good. WTF?? Put it back in and same thing. Gave it a whack and then brake lights started working again. I tried 5different fuses all did the same thing.

Perhaps its the fuse box itself? loose somewhere? Good luck.

 

If you have a remote start system check to make sure wher the wires are spliced into the back of the switch wiring. had same problem with my rig. Who ever put the remote start in did a crappy job no Solder on any of the connections.

 

Yes i do have a remote starter system. Hrmm.. I'm going to test the swith this afternoon, will keep you guys posted.
